For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for reading. Wherever I go, I always carry a book with me – usually more, because one should always have a backup. And possibly a backup to the backup. I have been known to go on trips for a weekend and pack a suitcase entirely full of books, but forget to pack clothes. I prefer reading physical books, because I love the way they feel, the way they smell, and the way they look on my shelf! But I often read ebooks on my iphone, especially if books I’m interested go on sale on Amazon. I read mostly YA because I feel like the genre has just really come a long way, but every now and then I find myself reading urban fantasy, and sometimes I am just in the mood for a good long epic fantasy, or a light funny contemporary.
Years ago, I studied french horn performance at Western Carolina University and University of North Texas. For various reasons, I did not finish my music degree, which has haunted me ever since. Recently, I was afforded the opportunity to return to school, and I have taken full advantage of that. I am in my second-to-last semester of a psychology degree and I am also working on a chemistry degree! It has been quite a ride and I have learned SO much, so even though I am not returning to music, I do feel like I am getting closure on an issue that really haunted me throughout my twenties.
I have been married to my amazing husband for six years, and we live together in Michigan with our German Shepherd, Australian Shepherd, and Burmese cat, though my heart belongs in the mountains of North Carolina or Colorado 😉
